Hello, everybody today, I’m at the Detroit Auto Show taking a look at this allnew Ram 2500 limited Black Edition um starting off up front new for 2025. We are going to have the completely new uh front end with your headlights and grill out back you’re going to have the new, updated tail light design, and then the interior has been slightly refreshed as well, so starting off with the front end, we do have the Beautifully appointed front LED headlights and fog lights kit, the top headlights it looks like are the reflector style LEDs, while the bottoms are the projector style. It looks very reminiscent of the uh previous generation uh Chevy Silverado HD, where they kind of split the headlight design up massive Grill as well to allow for maximum air flow. I believe this guy has the uh allnew 6.7 L, uh turbo diesel engine front facing camera right there, because this guy has the 360 camera system.
You also have your forward-facing sensor for your adaptive. Cruise control and your Lan keep assist powdercoated tow recovery. Hooks up front, as well as your front-facing parking sensors, with cross path, detection, this being a limited you’re, going to pretty much get every single safety feature imaginable. Um with this addition as well you’re going to get the sport style Hood so you’re going to have this nice plastic applique with your uh 2500 heavy duty badging on both passenger and Driver Side. Non-Functional hood scoop right here: LED clearance lights up top on the higher end, trims you’re, going to get the um color matched fender flares, coming down to the wheel and tire setup.
It looks like we have a new black 20in wheel for 2025 and it looks like it is a Firestone Transforce allterrain and that tire size is a 285 6D R20. Your blacked out com, turbo diesel badge is going to be right here, as well as your blacked Ram. Badging black mirror caps with your new indicator lights and your front-facing mirror LEDs. There’S your 360 camera system for the mirror side, camera side light. This vehicle does have the drop- down Deployable running boards, which makes getting in and out of the vehicle very easy passive entry.So, as long as you have the key fob on you, you can lock and unlock the vehicle from the driver, side or passenger side door. This is the mega cab, so we do have a little bit of space behind the rear door um. This is actually the same cab that I have. I absolutely love it we’ll take a little bit closer of a look in a little bit. It also has the rambox cargo management system.
We will go into detail on that a little bit later as well. Coming around to the back, the new updated tail light for 2025. Your blind spot monitor is still located right in there Ram is spelled out in massive letters on the tailgate. Your blacked out Lim limited badge is going to be on the driver’s side and then your blackedout 4×4 badge is going to be on the passenger side coming down here we have your customer mounted trailer camera as well as your regular trailer pin connections right here, parking Sensors are integrated into the bottom portion of the bumper. Then you have your backup camera right here, taking a look up at the third brake light.
It is a third brake light, as well as a cargo camera, and that also has the camera for the rear view. Mirror uh camera system in it as well right over here we have your Diesel and defa fill ports very, very Sleek. Looking truck this gloss, black looks amazing. Everything blacked out on this truck looks absolutely amazing. Like I said, this does have the new 6.L uh Comm turbo diesel engine made it to an allnew 8-speed ZF transmission, which is a pretty heavy duty. Transmission um. Let’S take a closer look now at the interior and see what’s new, so getting in is real easy with the drop- down running boards and the grab handle on the b-pillar before I get in. I do want to point out really nice soft leather material everywhere beautiful, stitching, real wood trim in here as well, lock and unlock buttons window controls, mirror controls as well as well as all of your controls for the mirr mounted lights, and then your power uh tilt And telescoping mirr buttons are going to going to be right there. This does have the premium Harmon Card and audio group very, very nice interior as well.
This limited is absolutely gorgeous starting over here. On the driver’s side, we got your rotary dial selector for the exterior lighting of the vehicle, as well as the dimmer switch for your ambient lighting and the instrument cluster coming up top to the instrument cluster. It is fully digital, which is always appreciated. I love that the automotive industry is moving in that direction. Coming back back to the steering wheel, we have a really nice soft leather WRA steering wheel, no bolsters over, on the left hand, side of the steering wheel.
We have the control pad for the center instrument. Cluster as well as your steering wheel, mounted call buttons over on the right side. We have your cruise control buttons, as well as your um Gap adjustment for your adaptive cruise control right here we have your gear limiter buttons and then because this is the blacked out package, we have the blacked out Ram logo up top. We have this nice wood trim with this black chrome, looking uh accent, color 12vt Outlet, as well as a nice Storage Tray right here. This guy does have a push button start right down here.
We have your um push button transfer case with two wheel drive. We have four-wheel, drive, high four-wheel, drive low and it looks like we have a trail control mode, which is like cruise control at slow speeds. I think this guy may also have the uh off-road suspension group as well. I did see some different color shocks when we were taking a look at the outside of the vehicle. This is all new for 2025.
This is the 14-in um, horizontal or vertical touchcreen display really really nice. You actually swap out some of your physical buttons for touchcreen buttons down here over on the driver side. We have your hazard, light button, your traction control off button and then all your HVAC controls on the passenger side. We have your Lan keep assist Button as as well as all the passenger uh HVAC controls down. Here we have the digital buttons for your gain for the trailer brake controller, which is located right underneath it, then we have your trailer steering knob right here with your onof button right there.
Then we have your tow Hall mode, exhaust brake parking, sensors front and rear off this being a diesel. It is going to have an exhaust brake and the cumin has two modes. We have full and we have Auto, underneath that we have a massive media center with it looks like three USBS and three USB type- C’s, as well as an auxiliary Jack. Two wireless charging mats right here. That brings us to the center console, which is configurable right here.We have two cup holders and then, behind that we have chain storage as well as a nice. Little felt lined tray right there, like I said this is configurable, so if you only want to use your cup holders, you can keep it in this position. If you want to have access to a little bit of the deep storage compartment down there, where there is a 115v 400 W power outlet, you can push it into this position and if you only want access to the Deep storage compartment, you can put it all. The way in the back, taking a look at this really nice soft, limited armrest, we have limited, spelled out right here, pull up on it, giving us access to a felt, lined storage compartment down here. We also have a deep storage compartment with the previous four generations of ram truck and then right here.
We also have some uh math functions on the back of the lid as well, very, very nice leather seats in this limited. This guy does have the center screen. So you actually can plug an HDMI device in here like an Apple TV or an Xbox or a PlayStation, and you can watch your stuff uh right here for the passenger, something that’s cool that I like that they did uh. As you can see, the screen is on when you’re in the driver seat. You actually can’t see it at all.
It’S not it’s! It’S designed that way to not distract the driver onof button, for that is going to be right here when you do opt for this. You you, unfortunately, lose the second glove box, but you have a regular glove box right here and then you have your limited badging over on that side as well coming up top to the vanity it’s going to be incandescent lit for your passenger as well as your Driver the driver vanity has a three-door universal garage, remote on it and then coming up top to the headliner. We have your tailgate release button uh. We have your dome map, light Master controls as well as your SOS and assist buttons.Then we have your single pane. Sunroof control and then your power sliding Rear Window Control for the back. I’M not a huge fan of the uh sunroofs, but when they do it, I’m glad that it is single pain right here we have the uh video camera rear vomir. It is pretty customizable um. You can control the brightness, you can control how high and how low the camera views you can control how over the camera views, you can control the Tilt, you can zoom in you can zoom out and then you can control the brightness.
So if it’s dark at night, you want to kind of control that turn that down a little bit, you can do that with this, these buttons, when you’re done flick it back and it becomes a normal rear view mirror. So, overall, I really really really like the interior of this vehicle um I, like the new 14-in touchscreen display. I think it’s very nice. I like the the texture of the buttons. I think they feel really nice.
The premium Harmon Cardon audio group in this truck is absolutely amazing. I think they did. They did a pretty good job with the refresh. Let’S take a look at the back seats and see how much leg room we have so again getting in is real easy drop down running boards and grab handle on the billar tons of leg room in this vehicle and, as you can possibly see, let me get Some light in there for you, you can see that these seats, because it’s a mega cab, actually recline a little bit. So if you want to kind of kick back and relax as a rear passenger in here, you can do that decent amount of leg, room storage in the form of pouches behind both driver and passenger seats.Two cup holders right here: storage compartment as well as heated, Captain’s chairs, two USB C’s, two USBS as well as 115 volt 400 W power outlet center seat does have a full down. Armrest cup, holder single light, dome map, light up top again premium Harmon Cardon audio speakers everywhere, and your hanger hooks are pushed to the rear of the headliner to maximize space. Now, like I said, the mega cab does give you space, as you can see, behind the seats. So what we’re going to do is we’re going to pull on this lever right here going to fold the seat down and you have access to some INF floor storage. Behind here, as well on both driver and passenger side, now, if you want to fold the seats down completely flat, you pull this lever right here and they fold down flat, giving you even more storage.
I believe you can fit a full mattress back here, air mattress. So if you uh slide these seats forward from there to there, you can fit a full mattress. So if you are going to use a mega cab as like a hot shot, uh setup, you have that option. Folding the seats back up is real easy and we are done. Let’S take a look now at the bed, so in order to access the tailgate on this vehicle, there’s a couple ways to do it uh.
The first way is with the key fob, which I don’t have second way is with the button on the headliner in the cab, and the Third Way is the more traditional way you’re going to come up to it, push the button and it’s going to automatically come Down for you, like, I said this guy does have the ram boox cargo management system, so it does kind of bring in the bed sides a little bit. However, you still are able to haul standard 4×8 sheets of drywall and Plywood And you can fit a uh full size quad. In the back of this truck um, a lot of people say: oh mega cab, you lose cargo space. The only space you really lose is the space behind and in front of the uh wheel wells. This also has the cargo management rail system back here.
So not only do you have four tie down points in each of the four corners, but you have two more on each side as well as this bed divider right here, which is nice, LED cargo lamp right there and then coming over here is actually how you Unlock it, it is lined with these Rubber and there are um like uh drain plugs in the bottom of this, so you can actually use this as a cooler if you need to 115 volt power outlet right here. I believe this is the new one for 2025. On the previous uh model year, we just had one power outlet right there, and then there is an incandescent uh light right here to help in low light conditions and again that’s on both driver and passenger sides. Putting the tailgate Up is real, easy, one-handed operation and it’s away, unfortunately, at the show they do not have the window stickers or the towing and payload stickers on the vehicles. So here’s a closer look at the allnew 6.
L cumins turbo diesel engine um. They have gone away from the high output versus the standard output for 2025. It looks like on the 25 and 3500 you’re going to get 430 horsepower and 1,75 ftlb of torque. They also went away from the uh CGI, which is the compacted graphite iron block um. They went back to it looks like the raw iron block.
I believe they have a helical um gear in here lots of new features, canister style, um filters for your oil, as well as your fuel filters. They went to a um, I think more efficient style air intake on the cold side. So you don’t have uh the grid heater anymore, because now you have the glow plugs and all of the uh injector lines are now on the outside, so user serviceability. In that regard, is going to be increased, still have a engine oil dipstick, which a lot of people like new, updated, CCV, uh filter box up top, it looks like your EGR still is in the relatively similar position. Your EGR crossover valve now goes down here.
Coolant right there, it looks like the turbo is now offset a little bit. It is no longer parallel with the uh the manifold, and then you also have uh emission stuff right off of the turbo, and the reason for this is um efficiency. You keep this hotter. It’S going to burn a little bit better and it’s going to get rid of all that soot a little bit more efficiently. That brings me over to the new fuel pump, which is now a cp8 uh.
No longer do they have the cp4, which was problematic um lot more uh rail pressure in this guy, a lot uh cleaner atomization. We will see how well this Stacks up going forward, but it does seem promising uh overall, it does seem like a a nice update. Um one of the complaints I do have is it still uses the hydraulic lifters instead of the uh flat tapit design from the fourth generation trucks. Um – and I guess it all just depends on the oil you’re using if you’re, using the right oil and you’re changing your oil at regular intervals. You should be all right, but overall, pretty cool new, updated engine.
I don’t think they have released Towing and payload information. Yet there is no Towing and payload sticker on the inside of the truck, so there you have it. You just saw the new, updated 6.7 L, commin turbo diesel engine uh. This guy is also also made it to the allnew ZF 8-speed automatic transmission.
That is a very heavy duty transmission. I believe it was developed for the heavy duty trucks over in the European market, so it will be interesting to see uh how the towing and payload numbers come out on this vehicle.
