I Put New Wheels On My Duramax!! + Installing Airbags

All right: Well, I’m going to say, depending on what time you’re watching this good morning, everybody It is like 5:20 a.m. I’M headed to A and D repair. We are going to be loading the wheels and tires for the Denali in the bed of the truck, I’m so excited, And then we’re going to go ahead and pull out the giveaway truck out of the garage when we get home and we’re going to go ahead. And install Check it out We’re going to install these bad girls right here.

These are the Nitto Recon Grappler, ATS, 11 and 1 halfs. I am downsizing. We’Re now going 20-in rims We’re not going to be 12 1/2 wide. This time You guys are going to see it firsthand, So I’m going to go ahead and load these up right now, We’ll go ahead and get there All right. So we have the wheels and tires here Here we’re going to go ahead and unbox them Actually kind of already opened them off camera.

I haven’t looked at them completely A little bit smaller. These are 22 More models, That’ll be nice. This should look real nice Make it ride. Nice [, Music, ], You know, surprisingly, these do cover the They’re, not as not as dramatic as I thought they would be They’re, actually giving the tire a little bit more protection than I thought Or the rim should. I say That’s good All right Roy, where we at What do you guys do?

Okay. One more thing I wanted to, let you guys know before I forget We’re going to be promoting this heavily later, but June 28th. 2025. We are doing a car show truck, show bike, show Anything motorized, custom, motorcycles, trucks vans, bring it. I will have a booth, I’m giving you guys plenty of notice, because right now, it’s March, depending on when I post this video, but it is March.

So I have pl, you guys have plenty of notice So make it up here to Michigan. If you guys could do that, that would be super awesome. Josh. You want to raise some money for charity Yeah we could. We could do something like that.

You want to do something for charity Cool, We’re going to have a big charity that we’re going to choose to raise some money for this year as well Yeah. I love doing that. That’S fun, We’ll do something like that Heat up here: [, Music, ], All right! I’Ve been sort of dying to do this, So I’m going to go ahead and unbox. This really quick, install it on the truck and then after that, we’ll go ahead and put the tires on So I’m installing a full airbag suspension in the rear.

So when I’m pulling trailers, I’m not sagging all the time, It’s gon na have a onboard unit. It’S gon na come with as well as look at that. It’S pretty slick I can change the ride height from outside the vehicle. So I think that’s kind of neat. So that’s what I’m going to be doing guys, I’m going to install this really quick.
You guys can see it with me. I don’t know In this video I may hook up a trailer just to test it out, but um. I know I pull that goose neck. All the time – And I cannot believe that I haven’t done this yet I did remove these from the frame already, I’m not exactly sure how you do it other than just take a rubber mallet and just hit it out. It should just pop right out No problem.

You’Re going to need clearance for that, But anyways after I get done installing this kit, we’re going to go ahead and put the Rough Country wheels with the no tires on it, We’re going to go ahead and take it on a little test drive So other than That let’s go ahead and get started: [ Applause ] All right! So I’m on the driver’s side I’m going to go ahead and take the upper bracket for the airbag I’m going to go ahead and stick this over the bump. Stop, of course remove that rubber piece. You can use a flaad screwdriver, just pry it out, Like I said, I just took a little rubber mount and beat it out, But uh go ahead and line this thing up the best way you can Go ahead and center. The two eyelet holes there, I’m using a paint pen just to kind of mark Kind of a bummer.

You have to drill a hole or two actually four But um. Once you do that, there’s two bolts that actually self lock up into the frame. I marked my holes, I know you guys can’t see it 2164, I’m just going to use a step bit to get me started And then uh we’ll go ahead and run the rest of it in And then we’ll go ahead and use our uh. I guess self locking bolts, They have a little bit of teeth on the end of it that basically grab and tighten as you go up, It’s pretty cool, So we don’t have to use a nut on the other side. Let’S go ahead and start drilling Before you install the lower mounting bracket, just go ahead and move the brake line bracket out of the way Remove the 13 mm bolt You’re going to have one right here as well Just go ahead and remove that.

So you have access to slide that whole bracket over the rear axle on the passenger side Go ahead and work. Your 90 air fitting some thread. Locker 14, mil More than likely it’s going to face that direction, And then we’re set Basically just going to pick it up and line the bolts up and run those 14 mm bolts in it in the frame All right, Yeah, she’s, nice and solid. Since I have this thing in the hoist, I’m going to go ahead and just compress this down using a clamp That way I can get that bottom Ubolt, [, Music ] on The clamp, did its job All right. That should be good And then little bit left here on the end, and I’m done So I’m just plumbing the airlines right now Super easy Just push in and you hear it click And then just cut size to fit.
Obviously, I’m going to keep this away from the exhaust, It’s pretty cool In the kit. They give you this little cutter tool Just cut size to fit, And then once I’ve done that basically going to take my tea and just in there, This is going to be where the air valve goes, which I think I’m going to run through the frame. Some people go through the bumper, the rear bumper, but I just don’t want to drill any holes And then that’s going to go straight to the pump. So I would like to apologize. This was not turning into some sort of install video, but sometimes I get a little ind depth, But this one I really didn’t – I kind of just breezed on through I’m, actually almost pretty much done about 90 % Thing I have to do is just run the Wiring up to the battery and then up to the fuse box.

So let me show you guys what I have here Tried to tidy up everything. The best way that I can Guys understand. This is a daily driver. I live north of the rust belt And yeah. We do definitely have some rust underneath here, but it’s not too bad.

You know what That works, That’s going nowhere And then it’s running over the fuel tank to the air compressor. I didn’t want to run the air compressor anywhere over here, either Contradicting myself by saying keeping it out of the elements, but there she is right. There, Rough Country, air, compressor, mounted to the frame. I, like the location, It’s a little bit easier to get to, Not only that I can hear it working, which is kind of cool, So we have one on each side, Manual, air valve, left and right Kind of neat. That’S just in case my electronics go down, and I have to air that up manually, But if you guys are going to install this at home, I’m telling you right now.

This is not rocket science. This kit is sweet. Everything is plug-andplay, It’s just the little things in life. I’Ve never had anything cool like this. This will be fun just to play with, But there’s our wiring, I’m going to run it right through the inner fender and again to the battery, and we should be good to go.
I need to remove the deaf tape because I need to service it. So that’s got to come out So before we use this table. I just wanted to show you guys something really quick. So this is the death tank. This carries the diesel exhaust fluid.

I removed the big metal shielding that goes around it, So it gives us access to these two brackets. There’S going to be one here and there’s going to be one right here And it’s actually bolted on the inside of the frame So you’re going to need an extension to fish all the way through where these little holes are, And I believe it’s a 14 mil. Don’T quote me on that, But you’re going to go through that hole, You’re going to remove that nut. That holds this entire bracket And once you do that it’s going to lower Now. This thing, I believe, is half full, so it’s going to be kind of heavy.

So with that being said, I’m going to use the table to simply just gently, allow it to sort of lay uh about at about a 45 angle right on the table. So I can remove this little tiny clamp, that’s connected to that hose And once I do that, I’m going to just disconnect all of the wiring harnesses to the tank And then I’ll just simply remove it and lower it down using the lift cable. I’M probably going to need I’m thinking it’s going to have to be a longer extension, So I’m going have to use one of these Yeah Pistol on this one Very nice. Let me show you guys what’s going on behind that, This is what about four winners will do Look at that I mean that’s, not good, I’m going to go ahead and clean all this up, But, more importantly, this is what I’m talking about right here. I’M going to go ahead and bring this all the way down to bare metal, I’m going to epoxy primer that I’m going to clean her up, because the last thing we need is a frame to crack on us when we’re pulling a trailer, That’s really bad!

I’M super glad I’m able to get this knocked out and do it safely So should have filmed. This part Got a little carried away with my wire wheel. So this is what the finished product looks like after I removed the deaf tank. I used a wire wheel. Scaled, this all the way down to nothing All the way down to bare metal, And then I chip guarded it.
Of course, I used a little bit of epoxy primer underneath it just to protect it a little bit, But man that looks good. It looks really good. These tires have about 50,000 mi on them, And I got to say these tires have worn really really nicely Very. Even I can run these no problems whatsoever. This is what brand new Recon Grapplers look like: Uh 100 % tread, I would say, 50 % tread And wow 50,000 mi, That’s pretty impressive, But as of right now more tire less rim See where I’m getting at It’s going to be more comfortable.

It’S going to sit in the body lines, I don’t have to worry about rubbing anymore, I’m going to have full range of motion. I’M actually really excited to see what black looks like on a black truck. This is my first time ever running black rims on my Denali, So either way, let’s go ahead and get these shoes on stop talking and, let’s see what they look like Definitely different. Looking We’re going to stick with a brand new set of spiky boys, Oh yeah, This is uh. My signature, You got to put them on Going from chrome to black, is kind of a big deal, especially living in a salty state in the winter time, because when you’re driving these trucks with these chrome rims on them in the winter time they’re going to pit, I don’t care how much you try to keep up with them.

They’Re going to pit, You can get car washes every day, But the bottom line is: is these uh? These rims are not going to last. They might last you one winter, That’s about it. I have a set of black rims on my red LBZ Duramax, the Anthems, I’ve driven that truck in the winter, basically every year of its life, and they have never pitted So I’d, say it’s a perfect move. Just sticking with black rims on my daily driver.

Definitely fitting for the video, But I sell these on the website. They’Re 40 caliber fired shells that are retrofitted to fit on valve stems. I think I have like 20 sets left and if you buy them, you will obviously get entered in to win the truck giveaway That’d be kind of sweet When people look at your build, sometimes they’re, not just looking at your paint job They’re. Looking at all the little things, It’s the attention to detail, I guess What really inspired me to go with the Rough Country wheels Well. First of all, I saw them on my website, so I get a great deal on them, But not only that they’re on the giveaway truck and they look amazing And they already have the Nitto Trail Grapplers on there.
Of course, if I’m driving it every day, I don’t want the tread to be that aggressive. If this thing had a separate reserve tank, it would probably go up and down a lot quicker, but since it’s just being controlled by the compressor, it does take a minute. But it’s really not that bad! I love it, I’m so happy! I did this.

This is such a good idea. Oh yes! So the way this works, if I was to exit out of this mode just exit out of here just so, you guys can see. What’S up, If I hit two it’s going to air it up to 30 PSI! That’S the idea!

So let’s just hit one And right now it’s just going to air down the bags in the rear, Nice and slow, And that’s it guys. It’S that simple Um! Let me know in the comments what you guys ride on. I know it depends on the trailer I’m not too familiar with airbags Uh pulling trailers usually don’t really run those Uh distribution. Hitches are kind of my thing.

I know a lot of guys say that black on black is kind of played out, but right now I’m loving this look and I’m going to enjoy it until these tires get old like the last ones Uh, I may go after some different wheels, but for the Most part, I’m pretty happy with it Now. I know this isn’t everyone’s style, but as long as I’m happy that’s what matters Also, if you guys have a truck, that’s not lifted.
