Towing capabilities, the reason most people purchase a diesel truck, but just how efficient and effective is it to tow a 15,000lb load with a diesel truck well, that is what we’re going to be finding out in today’s video Towing. This 15,000lb skid steering trailer 100 m. With my 67 power stroke and testing the performance ride, comfortability fuel mileage and much more real, quick, I want to let you guys know that I am going to be in at Asher Automotive on the 23rd doing some video work for them. So if you guys want to stop by and say hi, they are in Brian Texas, I’ll leave the details in description down below we are outside of the kadia Landscapes HQ towing with the 67 for the very first time right now, we’re going to put about 2,000 Lbs of weight on the trailer, so we got all these Scag equipment and everything like that. Back the truck up hook up the trailer go ahead and do some Lawns, and then I got something special for you guys at the end of the video.
My brother is actually buying a bobcat today, so we’re going to be Towing that that’s the main meat of the video we’re going to be towing a big old Bobcat. What do you think it’s uh, 8,000 lb about yeah, so it’s going to be like 14,000 lb, 14,000 lb total on the truck. So it’s going to be the first time to with the 67 it’s going to be a great video stay tuned. Let’S jump right into it in the 67 right now I got a nice little backup camera, unlike the 73 I’m going to, let you guys know how the 67 actually toes over the 732, all right, damn load it down. Boys been driving now for the whole day.
Reset the fuel mileage as well we’ve driven almost 200 mies or not 200 mies, but about 100 miles 12.7 mes per gallon right now, so not the greatest. But we are just like lawn hopping right now, so we’re just going from lawn to lawn to LA lawn. So it’s a lot of City Driving not much Highway and I am running a different tune. I’M running a 75 horse tune, I’m not running the 200 horse tune head back to the HQ drop all the stuff off and then we’ll go pick up the bobcat for you guys and then that’s when we’re going to really start the real Towing for the Bobcat.
We have got to actually we’re going to be using the dump trailer, because this trailer is a little less sturdy than the dump trailer is so it is hooked up to the Chevy right now. What we’re going to go ahead and do is move the Chevy out and then I’m going to actually pull in my truck hook up to the dump trailer and then we’re going to drive it all the way it’s about a 45-minute drive so I’ll. Keep you guys updated on like fuel mileage and everything with the dump trailer we did just to about 5,000 lb now we’re upgrading all the way to 14,000 lb load weight. I guess you could say so. Let’S go ahead and hook up so set my fuel mileage again just for this drive cuz.
I think we’re going about 100 Mil total round trip, but we’ll see here how it does and how everything holds up right now. We’Re in the 75 horse tune, keep it in that tune. Just cuz I like going to be one of the best Tunes I could use for towing. That being said, let’s uh hit the road here and see what kind of feel Mage we get and how it toes driving just the dump trailer. Nothing else believe the dump trailer is between 4 and 5,000 lb, but everything’s riding like a dream.
So far – and I am using my exhaust Brak so 67s – the older models – I think it’s the same thing for the newer models as well. If you just press that and you’re going down Hills or something the exhaust brake will activate, and you don’t have to use your brakes as much so you don’t burn up your brakes right now without the skid Seer, we are getting 15.8 MP gallon, which is actually Not bad, this is like majority Highway. That’S why I’m getting such good fuel mileage from compared to when I was just Towing around the mowers around the city, we’re going to get to where the skid steer is Lee’s, going to buy it, and then we’re going to go ahead and throw it in the Dump trailer as the skid steer has been bought, we’re going to now tow it so, but uh yeah here she is right here. This is it in all her glory yeah.
We just got to wait till we move some of those things back. It out drop it on and get to tow in holy God damn it’s too. It’S too far back backing in with the bucket on the forks backing over just go slow. Oh I’m tooted bro holy Jesus. We are booted and tooted boys not as bad as a 73, but we’re about to around and find out here right now we have a bucket and we have a fork back there.
Some prongs go fuel mileage and everything like that. We’Re going to use exhaust brakes Go real, slow I’ve had the 73 loaded down a little more than this. We got a 67 Power Stroke so see the difference here. You guys might have seen my 7even actually Towing in my 73 and I also towed a skid steer about the same size. A lot lighter trailer, but it was about 12,000 lb on the 73 and this is about 13 to 14,000.
So everything loaded down we’re about to fire. It up here see how it runs Towing right now on the 7 75 Hors tune, but I want to add a little bit more horsepower to it. I am thinking we’re going to do a 135 horse tune for right now we will do ECU profiles here.
Custom profiles, looking at 200 horse tune, we’ve got a 135. I think that’s what we’re going to go with. It is uh the 135 custom tune. That’S either that one do the 135. It’S going to take about 20 minutes to install this thing and then uh.
We will go from there boys all right guys. So everything is flashed and going we’re going to go ahead and uh fire it up. Here we got the 135 custom v3.0 tune on it. Everything fires up normal we’re going to let it idle for a sec and then we’re going to tear out of here all right guys.
Here we go get on out of here, I’m going to be monitoring my engine, coolant, temp and everything on the Easy Link. Tuner it’ll actually tell me guys if it gets too hot, so it’ll have a red, a red emblem on the actual letters or the numbers to see if it gets too hot or not so, we’ve been driving about for about a mile and the first couple things I do notice about it is. It is really bouncy. I think it’s cuz with the way we have the trailer trailer loaded down uh, just like it hop likes to hop when you’re in the truck so got 30 m on the dot till we get to home. So keep you guys updated, see the fuel mileage and everything and stay tuned Shi a lot later, so we have been driving for about 30 m right now with it loaded down and we’re getting 12.
MP gallon, not too too bad for towing 15,000 lbs. But I have it in the towhaul mode too, so it’s Shi a little bit different than it normally does it likes to downshift a lot sooner and upshift a lot later so, no everything kind of ran perfectly good. Everything ran smooth. The ride was a little bit bumpy, but because of the 2 and 1/2 in level on the front and the way we position the Bobcat on the trailer, it was a little bit too far forward. So it bounced a little bit more first time ever towing with the 67 power.

I have a tune and a delete coming in on the 6o Powerstroke. I also have a new intercooler system, speed, sensor, half shaft and a air intake, it’s all on the way it’s all purchased and on the way, so by next week Monday, we should be able to start the actual build on the project for this one.
