Hey there, folks! Welcome. Today, we’re going to talk about some important things to consider when looking to buy a used Ford 6.7. Please keep in mind that everything we’ll be discussing is my personal opinion, but we’ll be highlighting some key factors to help you make an informed decision about whether or not this truck is right for you. So, let’s dive in, shall we?
We have a used vehicle that I know a lot of you have been asking about. So, what do you look for when you’re thinking of buying a used Super Duty? Well, I’m glad this worked out the way it did because this is one of our used vehicles. However, I must say that this particular candidate is a middle-of-the-road vehicle that you’ll find. The unit is a 2016 model and has around 107,000 miles on it. You can see that it’s in pretty decent shape. Nonetheless, when you’re looking at these trucks, it’s important to step back, take a deep breath, and let your excitement simmer down a little bit. We need to really see what we’re working with here.
So, let’s talk about why this truck is a middle-of-the-road option. Firstly, it’s the age, mileage and condition. Take a closer look at the body panels, paint, fender liners, lips, and you’ll see that everything looks good. As far as I can tell, the vehicle has never been in an accident and the tires are great. If you’re considering getting one of these trucks, let’s create a list and write down some of the key points to look for on these 6.7s, shall we? Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
When you approach the truck, take a moment to notice its appearance and make a good first impression. Whether you’re at a dealership or dealing with a private seller, you may want to ask yourself whether you’ll have someone hovering over you. If you want to check out the vehicle in peace, take your time to observe it carefully, both inside and out. Take a deep breath and smell it too. Enjoy the experience!
When I got into this truck, the seats felt really nice and not too worn out. There’s a small part that’s showing some wear, but that’s to be expected, considering it’s the seat that will be used the most. Nevertheless, I am still considering purchasing the vehicle. I’m checking the cleanliness of the carpet to make sure there are no unusual stains that could indicate the truck has been in a flood. As for the back seat, I’m looking for signs of a car seat, and I don’t see any indentations on the leather or dirt. However, I do see some dog footprints, so it looks like Fido has been riding with us. I don’t see much hair, and the truck doesn’t have any bad smells. I am very particular about how a vehicle smells, and I’ve been in some that were just awful. The condition of a person’s vehicle can say a lot about them, and I like to make sure that it matches their personality.
I’m really liking the first impressions of this truck – it looks clean and well-maintained. Plus, no unpleasant smells! I noticed a bit of mud on the exterior, but a good cleaning should do the trick. The paint and door jambs look great, too. Before you check out the interior, take a quick walk around the truck to make sure everything is in order. The tires have plenty of tread left – about 30 seconds’ worth. However, it looks like the wheels are peeling a bit. As for the truck model, this is a 250 long boy. And I noticed that the hitch has some remnants of maybe a previous installation, so it’s possible that this truck has been used for towing. Overall, it’s a great-looking truck and seems to be in good shape.
Let’s start with a visual inspection, checking the exhaust first. Make sure the tips are not black, as that could be a sign of trouble. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to lift the vehicle up as I don’t have a hoist at the moment, but don’t worry, we can still check it out. Overall, it’s a pretty decent truck. Now, let’s take a look under the hood and see what’s going on. Hmm, it seems to be quite dirty, but that’s not uncommon. Many people forget to clean under the hood. Just make sure to check your coolant level. Thanks for letting me help you out!
Just wanted to share some advice with you guys. When you’re in the market for a vehicle or even just considering a Super Duty, a good LED flashlight can really come in handy during inspections. It’s great for spotting oil leaks and other issues. Take a look at this note left by the customer – it shows that they’re aware and conscientious about their vehicle’s maintenance, which is exactly what you want to see when buying a used vehicle. The fuel filter is another important component to keep track of. Knowing when it was last changed can give you peace of mind and help you make a more informed decision about purchasing the truck. Hope that helps!
I noticed that the customer wrote the mileage and date he replaced the air filter with a black magic marker. I showed you guys in DS’s truck’s maintenance video an easy way to check the air cleaner lid without taking it out. Check out the link I’ve included in the description for more tips on how to take care of your truck, including how the air filter gauge restriction works. I even demonstrated how it works by sucking it closed so you can see the yellow go down, indicating that it’s time to change the air filter.
What do you think so far? Are you considering buying this truck? Do you feel comfortable with what you’ve seen? I know we can’t check the inside as well as we’d like, but let’s take a look at the underside. We haven’t checked anything out yet. It looks a bit dirty, but let’s zoom out and take a closer look.
One of the most important things to keep in mind is locating the owner’s manual literature. It’s a crucial resource that can be easily overlooked. Unfortunately, newer trucks do not include this important document. Every diesel vehicle should come with a diesel supplement to the owner’s manual. Perhaps we could create a PTT diesel supplement that can be inserted into the owner’s manual. This supplement would highlight my recommendations for maintenance and how to take care of your six-seven. Although I don’t agree with some of the things that the owner’s manual says, it’s important to note that those recommendations are by Ford Motor Company. It looks like everything is here, including a tire care guide and information about the Super Duty for quick reference back in 2016.
Even if you have this, it’s important to clean the infotainment screen that usually gets overlooked and you may never see it again. If you’re serious about buying a used Ford 6.7, please reference this video and take notes on some key points when checking out your potential new vehicle. Take a quick look at the tires, check for any oil leaks, inspect the air filter, examine the condition of the engine, and look underneath the vehicle. Depending on your rims, you may be able to see through them, so check the brakes and the thickness of the pads. Brakes are a big ticket item on these trucks, especially if you need to replace all four. If you’re in the rust belt, things may not come off as easily as expected, so be prepared for additional work. Use this video to familiarize yourself with what to do when making an important decision like buying a used Ford truck.
